U.S. News & World Report for 2009 places 20 Washington University graduate and professional programs in their top-10 rankings. The School of Medicine is number three in the nation, and 12 of the departments and programs in medicine are ranked in the top 10. The George Warren Brown School of Social Work is ranked number one in the nation, and three Arts & Sciences areas are ranked in the top 10. The School of Law was ranked 19th in the nation; the school’s clinical training program ranked number five, and its trial advocacy program was number four. The Department of Biomedical Engineering is ranked number 10. The Olin School’s Executive MBA program ranks 18, and the part-time MBA is 20.
In U.S. News’ undergraduate category for 2008, Washington U. is ranked 12th among national universities. The Olin Business School undergraduate program ranks 13th.
Financial Times ranked the Washington University-Fudan University EMBA program eighth in the world and number one in China. BusinessWeek ranked the MBA program 28th in the nation and the Executive MBA program in the top 17. Architecture was ranked sixth nationally by DesignIntelligence.
According to the Journal of Blacks in Higher Education, the University ranks 8th in the nation in its black student graduation rate.
Rankings by independent organizations
In two separate national ratings — black student college graduation rates and the number of National Merit Scholars in the freshman class — Washington University ranks in the top 10.
The University ranked fifth in the nation in the number of National Merit Scholars in this academic year’s freshman class. The University has also been ranked 23rd for medium-sized schools in the number of alumni currently serving in the Peace Corps.
